“When will I hear back from contacting you?”

Many answers to your questions can be found on this page, which we will forward to you. For any questions that are not covered here, we will do our best to respond on an upcoming administration day. Administration days are generally Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, but as the work of running a sanctuary is unpredictable and never ends, it could take us longer to reply. If you have not received a response after a week, please check this page again and make sure the information you need isn’t here. If it isn’t, please send us another email in case we did not receive the first one.

“How did Tiny Hooves Sanctuary get started?”

Check out our history HERE.

“What kind of animals live at Tiny Hooves Sanctuary?”

We have 15 different species of farmed animals on our rescue farm. Cows, horses, mini horses, a mini mule, mini donkeys, goats, sheep, farm pigs, potbelly pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, turkey, peafowl, and pigeons. Each of our residents has their very own profile! You can read their stories HERE.

“Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start a sanctuary of their own?”

Open Sanctuary Project is a nonprofit organization that provides top notch education regarding sanctuaries and everything that goes into operating one. We encourage you to check out their website, and their page about starting a sanctuary. So you want to start a farm sanctuary?

“I’m just learning about veganism and living a plant-based lifestyle. Any tips?”

We find that THIS resource is incredibly helpful in learning more about veganism.

Some great tips can also be found HERE.

Check out our Recipes page to find some yummy and easy ways to eat vegan. We also have our very own Tiny Hooves cookbook available in our shop!

“Do you accept donations of food?”

YES – but please follow these instructions carefully!

“I think there’s an animal in distress and I want to help them!”

As a sanctuary, we have limited ability for any intervention. If you suspect abuse or neglect, gather as much information as you can and contact your local SPCA animal cruelty hotline. In our general location, the Wisconsin Humane Society can be of help, as well as Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital . You can also contact your local animal control officer by calling the non emergency police number in your location to report abuse or neglect.

A Note About Roosters…

Roosters are absolutely wonderful, lovely individuals, and also sadly are the species most frequently in need of Sanctuary. We are always at capacity, and as such do not have the ability to take them in. If you have a rooster in need of sanctuary please contact your local humane society or animal control, or email us for advice on keeping your rooster as a companion animal to you and your family.

A Note About Pigs…

Pigs are the second farm species most frequently in need of Sanctuary. Thanks to the pet pig craze, many, many pigs are now homeless. Sanctuaries are full, and shelters are usually at capacity as well. We are happy to offer our education and assistance to try and keep your pig safe at home with you for their lives, but we do not have the ability to take any in at this time. You can also contact your local humane society for assistance, or visit Pig Placement Network to help place your pig.

“I have an animal whom I’d like to surrender”

We are no longer open to any intakes or surrenders.

“What kind of animals does Tiny Hooves Sanctuary take in?”

As a farmed animal rescue, our focus is animals that are traditionally farmed for human use. As such we take many species, but do not take in wildlife or, typically, cats and dogs. Although we do have a couple of cats and dogs who live here, there are a multitude of resources for these animals and it is best to contact one of the many cat or dog rescue organizations who are properly equipped to help.

“How Can I Donate?”

“How do I become a Volunteer?”

Information on Volunteering, as well as our Volunteer Form are available on our VOLUNTEERING page.

“Can I come and visit?”
