Pistachio came to Tiny Hooves Sanctuary in 2020. His former people had just started a goat dairy herd, and Pistachio tested positive for CAE (an incurable retrovirus that affects the central nervous system). Most people who have goats in their herd that test positive for CAE either cull their entire herd, or euthanize the positive goats. We are so grateful that his people decided to try and find him a forever home instead. Tiny Hooves Sanctuary has extensive experience dealing with CAE, and managing the symptoms as they occur. Many CAE positive goats can live a full, long, happy life. We think they deserve that chance, and we are excited to have Pistachio in our forever family! Pistachio is only a year old, and is quite healthy, showing no symptoms. He is a giant lovebug, asking for cheek rubs and kisses every day. His favorite snacks are baby carrots, pumpkins, and apple slices!
