Phoenix
Phoenix joined our forever flock family in 2020. He was shipped as a "free gift" with 3 other chicks, and the people who opened up their surprise gift couldn't keep him due to zoning restrictions. Companies using living beings as “free gifts” are generally not the most caring, and obviously they had no care where he ended up. Phoenix has been with us since he was a teeny fluffball, and now lives within a rooster flock with rooster friends. Phoenix loves snuggles and cuddles from his human friends, but don’t try coming into his space without picking him up for cuddles! Phoenix loves blueberries, popcorn, and blackberries as snacks.
*Roosters suffer from a horrible stigma surrounding them that they are violent and aggressive, which is just not the truth. Roosters are excellent protectors of their flocks and friends, which can be misunderstood as “being mean”, but they are just doing what they know to do best, being the good gentlemen they are to their families. Roosters are emotionally complex animals, who have a huge range of interesting personalities. Many roosters love snuggles, and all offer the families that they trust with a loyalty that outlasts time itself. Roosters keep the peace within their family flocks, breaking up fights between their friends, while making sure no one gets hurt. Roosters make amazing companions, and we wish everyone had the pleasure of knowing a rooster friend!*
