Dear Friends of Tiny Hooves,
I’m writing today to share an important update about a leadership change at the sanctuary. After many years serving as President and Treasurer, I have made the decision to step down from these roles, effective September 12, 2024. This transition is a personal choice that I have been looking forward to for some time, and it will allow me to shift my focus to a role that is closer to my heart—Animal Care Director and Volunteer Manager.
As the founder of Tiny Hooves, I want to assure you that my commitment to the sanctuary remains as strong as ever. I will continue to live onsite, working closely with our beloved residents and supporting our incredible volunteer team. I’m excited to devote more time and energy to the core of why I started this sanctuary: to rehabilitate and care for farmed animals in need, while inspiring change with education and connection.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported us through the years. Your kindness and generosity make our mission possible, and I am excited for this new chapter.
I understand that some of you may have concerns about this transition, but please rest assured, this was entirely my decision. I never set out to be a businesswoman, fundraiser, or bookkeeper—my passion has always been in caring for the animals and providing education to the public. For the past month, the new leadership team has been running operations with minimal input from me, and they have done an incredible job. They even led the highly successful 30k in 30 days campaign, without my involvement, proving that the sanctuary is in capable hands.
I am excited to introduce the new leadership team: Sandi Swiss as President, Emily Kunaschk as Vice President, and Erin Manders as Treasurer. I have full faith in their ability to guide Tiny Hooves forward and continue our mission. I will be here to support them as needed during this long-term transition, but I am thrilled to be returning to my original passion of animal care and volunteer coordination. This is the role I’ve always wanted, and I wouldn’t have made this choice if I didn’t have complete confidence in our new team.
Thank you all for your ongoing support throughout this transition. Tiny Hooves has always been a collective effort, and I am excited for what the future holds as we continue to provide true sanctuary for animals in need. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns, I am always here for you.
With sincere gratitude,
Beca Thompson
Founder, Tiny Hooves Sanctuary

Hello Friends!
I am thrilled to step into my new role as President of Tiny Hooves Sanctuary. It’s an incredible honor to work alongside our amazing board, staff, and volunteers that are the heartbeat of this organization which I love so much.
From my first visit in 2018, stacking hay and participating in workdays, I’ve believed in Tiny Hooves’ mission and fallen in love with our animals. I have seen the sanctuary grow and change so much since 2020 when I started volunteering for weekly animal care. I joined the board first as a director, then as Vice President, and now as President.
During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to:
Lead volunteer workdays
Help establish an organic food garden for our animal family
Organize community events
Contribute to social media outreach
Participate in and lead vital fundraising campaigns
Continue to volunteer for weekly animal care
These experiences have been crucial in building community, caring for our animals, and educating the public about our mission. Each event, campaign and event has taught me valuable lessons that I will take with me as we move into the future of continuing with our mission, building community, improving our programs and of course providing the best life in sanctuary for our animal family.
With the board handling essential administrative duties, our founder, Beca can now focus on her passion for hands-on animal care and enrichment. We will all continue to work together operating Tiny Hooves as a team for our mission and for the over 150 animals in our care.
Tiny Hooves is possible because we have all come together for the love of our animals. It is truly a team effort of our board, staff, volunteers, supporters and community. I am so very excited for what the future holds as we continue on this journey together!
For the Animals,
Sandi Swiss
President
Tiny Hooves Sanctuary

I am thrilled to move into my new position as the next Vice President of Tiny Hooves Sanctuary. It is an incredible honor to expand my role within the organization and to be able to contribute to the mission in new ways.
Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of running our gala and summer concert series, which have not only raised essential funds for our sanctuary but also fostered a sense of community among our supporters. These experiences have deepened my commitment to our mission and provided me with valuable insights into how we can enhance our programs and outreach. I look forward to continuing focusing on fundraising, events and community building.
I also look forward to working closely with our team, volunteers, and supporters to make a positive impact in our community. Thank you for your ongoing support, and let’s continue this journey together!
With gratitude,
Emily Kunaschk
Vice President, Tiny Hooves Sanctuary

It is an honor to accept the role of Treasurer at Tiny Hooves Sanctuary, an opportunity that aligns perfectly with my commitment to animal welfare and entrepreneurial spirit.
My experience of over ten years running a small business has taught me the importance of aligning financial strategies with core values. My aim is to ensure that every dollar spent reflects our dedication to the well-being of our beloved residents and furthers our mission.
I look forward to continuing to work with our amazing board of directors to maintain a thriving sanctuary that embodies compassion, integrity, and transparency. Thank you for your support as we work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and our community.
With appreciation,
Erin Manders
